College Magazine Questionnaire
In this Questionnaire I have put together I am simply trying to catagorise audiences interests and what my audience is most likely to respond to and like when I am designing and publishing my music magazine. At the end of the questionnaire the last few questions are going to be used to try to idenify your psychographic profile. Question 3 is designed to help me find out about the uses and gratifications of my audience, and question 6 onwards is more your opinions and preferences of yourself.
Image Deconstruction
The World Famous Beyoncé, very well known as 'Queen B' is an amazing music artist in her own right. On this poster for her The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour for 2013, she has not only adopted her persona as 'Queen B' but also added a personal touch by calling the tour by her personal name as Beyoncé Knowles Carter. The very bold black masthead at the top of the poster is very prominant in showing that this is advertising the very famous Beyoncé and is also reflecting her 'huge' superstar status through the big text. The royal and rich theme throughout the image is very detailed and bold, her crown in her hair is slightly tilted suggesting that even though this is a serious business venture of a global tour, she is still not taking herself too seriously and is having fun and enjoying the experience. Her slightly parted lips are somewhat suggestive and indeering to the viewer, making the attention to her bold red lips as most of the image is gold. She also looks very proud and proper, with her stance, posture and body language which implies she's 'fit for the throne.' Beyoncé's husband Jay-Z is also a music artist and has a connection to the 'throne' as he is a big superstar as well, this ties them in as a powerhouse couple but also allows independance in the music industry as one of his albums is collaberated with Kanye West and is called 'Watch the Throne'. This strongly confirms that they are a royal couple in Hollywood. This also ties in with the Throne in the image as it is sparkling and rich in colour depth, highlighing the glamourous life of a women with such power in the industry. The outfit is very much Beyoncé-esque in association with the body-hugging corset and the 'stage presence' within the outfit itself is something she would wear while performing - as this is an advertisement for her world tour it is a glimpse of what is to come or to be expected from the show that she is putting on - full of glitz, glamour, fun and energy. Her glare into the distance is another factor that intregues the viewer as she is focusing on something in the distance, this could be suggesting she is focusing on the concert that she will be putting on for that persons individual experience of her performance.

First Experimental Photoshoot for the College Magazine
Taking a more dynamic shot from above howvever aiming for a mid-shot, how ever from taking it from a different angle it gives the extented leg having more length and catputures the distance.
This shot is capturing the person from above the waist, the angle of the image is making out that the model in the image is a dominant and independant person allowing a certain amount of power to be portrayed over the photographer.
Portraying a human based on a model allows effects such as photoshop to add unreaslistic effects: such as creating my friend cheryl into the model itself. This is a long shot allows a full image shot of cheryl! And also shows off the item of clothing which adds a burst of colour to the image.
Taking shots from a height gives the effect of a dominating angle which over powers the person within the shot, Also this angle allows a wide space of the setting which adds to the 'colstraphobic' location. Creating a sense of depth and feild.

Welcome to my AS Media Blog!
Hello! Welcome to my AS Media Blog! My name is Cheryl and I am creating this blog to document my coursework research and progress throughout my AS year focusing on a main project of creating and presenting my own music magazine. I have decided to focus on the Billboard magazine in order to allow myself to explore popular and eclectic music tastes. I am looking at artists that are in the media currently and ones who are making headlines for their music. I am looking at artists who are creating a lot of attention for themselves in the media personally or professionally to be able to influence my articles in the magazine and understand how to produce a music magazine that my audience are interesed in and are wanting to read. I have looked at some of the Billboard covers and how they can vary each month from color and layout to text and images.
Katy Perry's Billboard cover is very colourful and vibrant which reflects her personality as an individual and her upbeat feel good music. Her songs are personal and fun which is why Billboard adopted this idea and created a photoshoot for the cover which screamed fun! She is also quite a sultry women, which is portrayed through her facial expression and body language on the cover. She is provocatively looking at the camera which is a direct message to the audience and covered in flowers (demonstrating her quirky side) and is holding her hands above her chest as if she is draped in only flowers. This is at a time when she is very big socially and musically and Billboard have picked up on that and headlined her for the cover. It is also a big honour to artists as they know they are making the right moves in their career for media attention and shows they are at a high point musically.
Beyoncé is a world famous lady, she is incredibly inspiring and energetic however her cover is more seductive and her direct address with her facial expression is 'up close and personal' suggesting her tours and her music is personal and you will be invited to know more about this global superstar. Her interview in the magazine will also be up close and personal and very inciteful about her recent journeys, goals and achievemens. Again this is highlighting her at the top of her career and demonstrating her constant rate of 'being on top' in the music industry.
Everyone knows that Lady Gaga is a quirky individual who follows no rules but her own. Her everyday appearance changes and dangerous style is mostly 'hit and miss.' In spite of this she thrives musically and sometimes her fan base may even be focused on her personality and daring nature. Billboard have toned down the crazy and amped up the sexy with her cover shoot. Her vibrant violet hair is slightly tame but topped off with a very big bow of hair on the top to add a little quirk and express her need to be different regardless of extremety. Her sexy tailored suit is nothing ordinary with her emphasised shoulder pads and beautifully cascading jacket adds simple beauty and editorial fashion with a twist. Her Billboard cover is very tailored around her personality and showing that she may show too much but she's on top and laughing at the scrutiny, she is on top of her game and Billboard obviously recognised this claiming her solid star status.
